What is the Alberta Call Centre Association and this
Code of Ethics all about?
The Alberta Call Centre Association (ACCA), a not for
profit trade association founded in 1997 to represent and serve the call
centre industry and the telemarketing profession in Alberta, is committed
to meeting the needs of its members while protecting the rights of
consumers and businesses who have telephone contact with its members.
Through professional activities, the ACCA attempts to
educate its members, the public and public officials concerning the ethical
behaviour for both inbound and outbound call centre activities. We have
also developed this Code of Ethics and its accompanying membership
information form to help any business, consumer or legal entity objectively
measure call centre program integrity and professional performance.
The ACCA strongly encourages its members to become fully
conversant with all applicable federal, provincial, and local laws and
regulations for compliance before initiating any call centre program.
The ACCA advocates the highest standards of professionalism
and ethical behaviour for all call centre operations. These standards, when
conscientiously adhered to and practiced call-by-call, help assure the long
term satisfaction of ACCA members, their employees and customers while
preserving the future of our profession.
This Code of Ethics is an educational tool developed under
the premise that professional, reputable programs have specific goals,
achieved though closely supervised, high quality performance, with the
public interest - business and consumer - in mind.
By accepting membership in the Alberta Call Centre
Association, members agree that they, and their companies, operating in
Alberta will adopt and abide by ACCA Code of Ethics.
In recognition of being accepted for membership by the
Board of Directors of the Alberta Call Centre Association, members agree,
on behalf of their companies, to fully implement and abide by the Code of
Ethics in all operational and employment practices of their company.
